Rip-Off Pricing Tactics: Beware the ‘bait-and-switch’ – this is a favorite tactic of many of the carpet cleaning companies in Katy. You know the routine: “$99 to clean your whole house”. When the technician arrives he tells you that you need spot/stain treatment which is extra – in the end, your bill is likely to be 3-4 times what was promised. Most technicians in the business are actually on commission – they make 18-30% of the final price! – no wonder they want to charge you as much as they can, so they can make more money!

At the low end, this can be a portable machine (similar to those that you can rent from your local store), up to van-mounted equipment. Most companies' machines cannot produce steam at a high enough temperature (typically between 100-200 degrees F) nor have sufficient suction power (to suck back the dirty fluids). Because of this, most companies use chemical detergents on your carpet to try to break down the stains. Unfortunately, most of this detergent ends up remaining in your carpet or, worse, gets smeared in with the original stain.
